Did I Answer The Question: How can I improve access to outdoor recreational activities to underprivileged or low-income youth?
1. Provide details of what was learned throughout the year and specific ways your Capstone Project will impact your future.
Throughout my year in the Senior Capstone Class Experience, I learned a few impotant life lessons that will stay with me forever. I learned a valiant effort with determination and discipline is a skill that cannot be beaten. I learned communication is absolutely vital in both the professional world and as a leader. I learned sometimes, all people need is a chance for them to flourish. I learned a community is one of the most beautiful and essential systems on the planet. And most importantly, I learned helping other people is my calling in life. I will not allow myself to have a career in which I am stagnant and working for the next paycheck. I desire and require a life full of purpose and service, two pillars upon which every great civilization stands. And this is the impact my Senior Capstone Class Experience has had on me, and will have on the world.
2. Include the results of the data you collected about the efficacy of your solution to your essential question. How does the data you collected relate to the research you conducted for your paper? Include specific authors or citations to support your results.
My solution has been very effective in regards to my essential question. Two underprivileged latino girls skiied this year and many more are excited to ski next year because of the partnership program I created. Many students are now climbing on my climbing wall daily, both before and after school and during PE classes. Climbing is now exposure easily obtained for all students because of mine and many others hard work.
3. Include a thoughtful reflection on the results of your project, including specific details of successes, stumbling blocks, and ways to improve the process you used to complete your project.
I believe I achieved a high level of success over the course of this project due to hard work and assistance from many amazing individuals. We were successful in creating a beautiful climbing wall and a DCF-JHHS Ski Team Partnership Program that are both very effective. Stumbling blocks included receiving fundraising for the wall, pads, and lights as well as communication errors. Ways I could imporve my process would be to have great communication between all parties and get our name out in the community more to help fundraising efforts.
4. Draw conclusions and make future recommendations about your project. What would you do next if you were to continue your project?
I am very satisfied with this project and glad I had this opportunity. If I were to continue this project I would add on a rope skills bolt board on to the climbing wall for students to learn how to safely manage the rope while climbing. I would also add on efforts to excite students to take place in the DCF-JHHS Ski Team Partnership Program, such as having a day when the ski team skis with the younger students.
All in all, an awesome year
